France by banning burqa has demonstrated state autocracy and arbitrariness. After all, it a personal choice, made apparent after huge demonstrations of women population claiming their rights to burqa. Dictating on apparel is female subjugation. Many women indeed see burqa beyond a conservative practice, as a means of protecting ones dignity from colonizers and female autonomy. Forceful unveiling is far from being liberating but an instance of repression and islamophobia. It is true that the immediate goals of feminism are liberation and promoting equal rights of women, however, veiling can have a number of implications apart from its immediate message of female liberation.
